Privacy Policy

Last updated: December 2024

Introduction

TeamSelector ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our TeamSelector mobile application.

Information We Collect and Legal Basis

Touch Data

Our app processes multi-touch input to detect finger placement on your device screen. This touch data is processed locally on your device and is not stored or transmitted to our servers.

Legal Basis (GDPR Article 6): Legitimate interest - necessary for the core functionality of team selection.

Random Number Generation

We use Random.org's API to ensure true randomness in team assignments. When using this feature, your device makes requests to Random.org's servers. Please refer to Random.org's privacy policy for information about their data practices.

Legal Basis (GDPR Article 6): Legitimate interest - to provide fair and unbiased randomization.

App Usage Analytics (Optional)

With your explicit consent, we may collect anonymous usage statistics to improve our app, such as feature usage frequency and performance metrics. This data does not include personal information and is fully anonymized.

Legal Basis (GDPR Article 6): Consent - you can withdraw consent at any time through app settings.

Device Information

We may automatically collect certain device information including device type, operating system version, and app version for technical support and compatibility purposes.

Legal Basis (GDPR Article 6): Legitimate interest - to ensure app functionality and provide technical support.

How We Use Information

  • To provide team selection functionality through multi-touch detection
  • To generate truly random assignments using Random.org
  • To improve app performance and user experience
  • To provide dice rolling and coin flipping features

Data Storage, Retention, and Security

Data Processing Location

Most data processing occurs locally on your device within the European Economic Area (EEA) or your local jurisdiction. Random.org API requests may be processed outside the EEA with appropriate safeguards under GDPR Article 46.

Data Retention

Touch Data: Processed in real-time, not stored or retained
Analytics Data: Retained for 24 months maximum, then automatically deleted
Device Information: Retained only while app is installed

Security Measures

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures including:

  • Local data processing to minimize data exposure
  • Encrypted data transmission to Random.org via HTTPS
  • No persistent storage of sensitive information
  • Regular security assessments and updates

Third-Party Services and International Transfers

Random.org Integration

Our app integrates with Random.org for true random number generation. When you use features requiring randomness, your device communicates directly with Random.org's API. Random.org is operated by Randomness and Integrity Services Ltd. in Ireland (EU). We recommend reviewing Random.org's privacy policy for details on their data handling practices.

International Data Transfers

If data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place:

  • Adequacy Decisions: Transfers to countries with adequate data protection (Article 45)
  • Standard Contractual Clauses: EU-approved contracts for data protection (Article 46)
  • Certification Schemes: Industry-standard privacy certifications where applicable

Children's Privacy

Our app is designed to be family-friendly and suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are located in the European Union, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right of Access (Article 15): Request information about personal data we process
  • Right to Rectification (Article 16): Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Right to Erasure (Article 17): Request deletion of your personal data

  • Disable analytics in app settings to withdraw consent
  • Disable network access to prevent Random.org API usage
  • Contact us at privacy@teamselector.app to exercise any of your rights
  • We will respond to requests within 30 days as required by GDPR
